If you want growth, develop your leaders!
If you develop yourself – you can experience personal success
If you develop a team – your organization can experience growth
If you develop leaders – your organization can achieve explosive growth

According to John Maxwell, you can grow by leading followers. But if you want to maximize your leadership and help your organization reach its potential, you need to develop leaders. There is no other way to experience explosive growth.
This tells me if we want explosive growth, we need to grow leaders!

Leaders who develop followers grow their organization only one person at a time. But leaders who develop leaders multiply their growth, because for every leader they develop, they also receive all of that leader’s followers.
Leaders are not on every corner; we need to either find them or develop them. The question is do you have enough true leaders in your group now to experience the explosive growth?
So how do you develop leaders? It is a process.
First you must determine the competencies that are necessary for the specific leadership role. Research the competencies, lay out what the strength and weakness of that competency looks like in your organization.
Assess the leader against the competencies. What are they already good at, and what do they need to work on. Put a Personal Development Plan together specifically for that leader, for the specific competency for their role. The emphasis is on personal. One plan does not fit all.
Based on the competency, skills should be developed and tested through a blended style of activities. There should be knowledge and skill-based activities to help develop the competency.
There should always be coaching, either by a trusted peer, a supervisor or a mentor.
Maxwell says in order to have explosive growth, it is about the people, and development is the key. Spending time and pouring into our potential leaders on a regular basis will make your organization stronger. He states only one leader in ten is able to blossom without the help of another leader.
